During the 1970s I travelled back and forth across Canada in showbands, playing guitar and singing and arranging the music.  I put together long medleys of songs from vocal groups such as the Beatles, the Four Seasons, and the Beach Boys.

During the 1980s I worked at Electrohome Electronics and served as the Treasurer of the Electronic Technicians' Association.  I still sold musical arrangements to Johnnie Johnston's showband. Then I went back to school and earned two university degrees.

During the 1990s I was the Lighting Designer for York Centennial Theatre's productions at the Village Playhouse. I started teaching at the DeVry Institute of Technology and discovered a passion for the academic life, which led me to earn a doctorate from York University.
